Canadian Championship

Well here we are just a few days away from the start of the Canadian Championships, this is a prime opportunity for you to witness the best lawn bowling that Canada has to offer.

We hope that you may be able to drop by a few days, whether to spectate or just be part of the whole overall experience, many of you are already volunteering of which we are very grateful, if not that’s ok too, come on down, have some lunch, watch the show, contribute, bring your friends or neighbours.

If you need further info it’s all on our website, the Opening Ceremonies are this Friday at 4.00 pm for Singles and again on Tuesday August 22nd for Pairs & Fours, same time,

Come on Down !

A few of our newer Members have been asking me about the ‘Nationals’ coming up and if anyone can attend ? the answer is, absolutely, anyone can come down at anytime and watch the action and view some excellent bowling from all the best players in the Country and cheer on your BC Teams, or if you have roots from another Province to cheer on that’s ok too.

We have a few of our own Members competing, Lynda Robbins is competing in the Women’s Singles and Davie Mathie and Brent Jansen in the Men’s Fours, so come on down and show your support.

This event is open for spectators at any time during the competition including the general public at no charge.

Draw schedules and the Opening Day specifics & times are posted on the bulletin boards and on our website, lunches will be available for order on the day and open cash bar for hydration if you are so inclined, as well as 50/50 sales, raffle tickets and souvenir sales, the Taylor Bowls Rep ( Shelley from Sidelign Bowls) will also be on hand August 19th, 20th, 23rd & 26th.

We also kindly ask if you can temporarily ‘empty’ your bowls lockers prior to the Championships to enable our visiting bowlers (48 for singles & 120 for pairs & fours) to store their bowls during the competition, if you can do this please by no later than Wednesday August 16th it will be appreciated.

Meanwhile if anyone has any questions regarding please do not hesitate to ask or drop me an e mail,

We still need many more volunteers for Kitchen B during the Nationals.

Below is the link to the special event server course required for all volunteers in “Kitchen B”.   The quiz is 25 questions and you need 80% to pass, and are permitted 3 tries, at a cost of $20.  (JDF lawn bowling club will reimburse you the $20 for taking the test)

Please contact Rob or myself if you are able to volunteer.  For those who have offered to volunteer already, we look forward to getting your certification number upon completion of the course.

Once we can get an accurate number of how many “certified” volunteers we will have we will be able to make a suggested shift schedule.

I hope to have as many of you that have attended, or not, to come for a final evening of fun.

We will play a game of Auzzie Pairs.

It is a wonderful game to use a lot of the skills that you have learned.

It has been great to see you each week.

And remember, if you ever need any additional coaching, just drop me an email and coaches will be set up to meet with you.
